No rain yet: Angels vs. Royals

May 7th, 2008, 3:45 pm · Post a Comment · posted by BILL PLUNKETT, OCREGISTER.COM

It has been drizzling off and on most of the afternoon but the killer thunderstorm the local weathermen have been predicting is nowhere to be seen yet. In fact, the grounds crew has taken the tarp off the field at Kauffman Stadium (neither team took batting practice on the field today).

Meanwhile in Rancho Cucamonga — second baseman Howie Kendrick went 3 for 3 with two home runs in the second game of his rehab assignment Tuesday night. But Kendrick “felt a bit of stiffness” in his strained left hamstring as the game went on, according to Angels manager Mike Scioscia.

Kendrick won’t play today and will be re-evaluated before he continues his rehab assignment. It’s not likely he’ll be ready to rejoin the Angels before the homestand next week.

Casey Kotchman is getting the night off after feeling “a little tightness in his groin” while running the bases Tuesday.

Today’s lineup:

DH Gary Matthews Jr.

SS Erick Aybar

RF Vladimir Guerrero

LF Garret Anderson

CF Torii Hunter

C Mike Napoli

1B Robb Quinlan

3B Brandon Wood

2B Sean Rodriguez

P Jered Weaver
