Like a farmer worried about his crops, Jered Weaver would have welcomed the rain.

But there has been no sign of the thunderstorms predicted all day. Instead, the Royals roughed up Weaver for his worst start of the season.

Weaver lasted just 3 1/3 innings, giving up the same number of hits (10) as batters retired. The Royals came into the game last in the majors in runs scored, last in the American League in home runs and slugging percentage. But they bounced Weaver around for six extra-base hits including home runs by David DeJesus and Alex Gordon.
