It’s another pitchers’ duel, this time between two young left-handers — Joe Saunders for the Angels and Scott Kazmir for the Rays.

Saunders struggled to find his control at the start, walking four in the first three innings (a season-high for him). Two first-inning walks and a single by Akinori Iwamura loaded the bases and the only run of the game scored on a fielder’s choice.

Meanwhile, Kazmir allowed just one hit through the first four innings (giving the Angels two hits in their first 13 innings in Tampa Bay). The Angels had three hits off Kazmir who struck out six in six innings but ran up a high pitch count (109). He’s out of the game now with reliever Trever Miller pitching the seventh.

The Angels are working on a string of 15 scoreless innings in Florida.
