Jon Garland, despite having a stellar record against the Toronto Blue Jays, has allowed runs in each of the first three innings and the Angels are trailing the Blue Jays, 3-2, through the third.
Sean Rodriguez took a big bite into the Blue Jays’ 3-0 lead with his first major league home run. It came with Brandon Wood aboard in the bottom of the third inning.
The Blue Jays scored in the first inning on a wild pitch and left the bases loaded in that inning. A sacrifice fly by Marco Scutaro in the second inning upped the lead to 2-0. Rod Barajas accounted for the Jays’ third run with a solo home run in the top of the third.
Garland threw 44 pitches in the first inning and hit the 75-pitch mark after three innings.

This is what happens when Jon Garland tries to get strikeouts. This game is no fun to watch. At least the kids did something but the batting order isn’t productive at all. Why mess with the lineup from last night that had 16 hits? Mike Scioscia changes everything that starts working and goes back to what doesn’t work.
I’m really upset about this game. Burnett is a mediocre pitcher this year. The Angels should be pounding him. And oh boy, now the blowpen has taken over. Wee. Oliver gives up a nice leadoff double. These guys just don’t know how to get three quick outs.
