The Angels placed right-handed pitcher Chris Bootcheck on the 15-day disabled list prior to Monday’s game and recalled Darren O’Day from Triple-A, Salt Lake to replace him.
Bootcheck last pitched on Sunday and was the losing pitcher in the Oakland A’s 7-3 victory over the Angels. Bootcheck was complaining of pain in his arm following the game.
An MRI exam was taken and the results landed Bootcheck on the disabled list with a strained forearm.
Bootcheck started the season on the disabled list with a strained left oblique.

We sure didn’t get the good Joe Saunders tonight. Three straight homers to rookies and weak hitters. Yuck. I hope the Angel bats wake up in this game. They got one run but it took a Vlad doube, a Casey groundout and a Gary hit. That just isn’t good enough. Time for the Angels to get back to homers. This Edwin Jackson isn’t much of a pitcher so the bats better wake up.
Will someone in the lineup please hit a three run homer? This offense just isn’t cutting it. They can tack a run on here and there but that isn’t going to win a lot of games. It sure would have helped Sunday though. They do it when they’re down but when they have a small lead they go to sleep.
These guys need to start getting serious with their offense. There was no reason to lose Sunday and this game is very winnable. But how about some big doubles and homers? And I haven’t seen much from them as far as small ball goes. Why no hit and run with Mathis on and Izturis hitting? That would have got Mathis to third instead of second. The Angels have forgot to play Angels Baseball lately.
Wow, getting Saunders his 10th win sure was important. Yuck. Back to a three run deficit. This offense better wake up right now and stay awake. The bullpen is going to be way overused now. I don’t see a good week ahead. Too bad the 2008 Angels aren’t as exciting at home as they are on the road. Does anyone have a grand slam in them tonight? I hope so because we’re going to need a lot of runs to win this sad game.
