Torii Hunter hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the fourth inning, giving the Angels a 4-3 lead on the Tampa Bay Rays near the midway mark.
Hunter hit a 2-1 pitch from Edwin Jackson over the wall in left-center field. It was his 200th career home run, leaving him 400 shy of Ken Griffey Jr. Griffey hit his 600th career home run earlier in the day.
The Rays took a 3-0 lead off of Joe Saunders with three consecutive home runs in the second inning. Evan Longoria started it off with a blast that cleared both bullpens in left field. Willy Aybar (Erick’s brother) followed with a home run into the Angels’ bullpen, and Dioner Navarro also hit a home run.

This Angels offense is just horrible. They have no idea of what they’re doing. Just go up and hack. The rays score four runs and our offense answers it with a quick 1-2-3 inning in probably less than ten pitches. Pathetic.
Mickey Hatcher needs to discipline these guys. They should all be told what to do every at-bat. If you lead of the inning you’re a leadoff hitter. Get on base. A walk is great.
What I really hate is watching Garret Anderson hack at a horrible 2-0 pitch and ground out. Will he ever learn to walk?
Wow, we had a chance to score more runs in the 6th and Quinlan hacked at a bad 1-0 pitch. what’s wrong with these guys? Can’t someone teach them to be patient? Maybe make Jackson throw a strike before swinging? This offense is just bad. They’re like the Mariners, plenty of hits but everyone stranded on base.
Vlad better start hitting homers since nobody seems to want to drive him in.
