Anderson to sit this one out

June 11th, 2008, 11:47 am · Post a Comment · posted by Al Balderas, staff writer

Garret Anderson was supposed to be in Wednesday’s starting lineup until he confessed to manager Mike Scioscia that his right knee was sore.

Now he’s out and Reggie Willits will play in left field and bat leadoff.

Scioscia said it’s nothing to worry about and figures that by resting Anderson on Wednesday, coupled with Thursday’s off-day, Anderson should be ready to go in time for this weekend’s series against the Atlanta Braves. Anderson would be available for pinch-hitting duty, if needed, but Scioscia would prefer to give him the whole day off.

With that in mind, here are today’s lineups…

Angels’ lineup

Reggie Willits, LF

Maicer Izturis, SS

Howie Kendrick, 2B

Vladimir Guerrero, DH

Torii Hunter, CF
