The Angels offense has been so quiet during the first three innings of Wednesday’s game against Tampa Bay that you could almost hear crickets chirping.
Scott Kazmir, who held the Angels to three hits in six innings when the Angels were in Tampa Bay last month, is doing even better than he did in that start.
Kazmir has yet to allow a runner to get on base. His efforts are allowing the Rays to hold onto their 1-0 lead over the Angels through three innings.
John Lackey had to overcome a rough start before settling into his groove. He gave up a leadoff triple to Akinori Iwamura, which was followed by a Carl Crawford single for the Rays’ only run.
The Rays loaded the bases before Lackey wriggled his way out of that first inning.
