Kelvim Escobar arrived at Angel Stadium on Friday feeling no pain in his right shoulder.
That non-feeling didn’t last long.
Escobar tried to play catch on the outfield grass during batting practice but had to give up after only a few minutes.
“It’s not good,” he said. “It’s painful. I only threw…not even 10 pitches. It didn’t feel right.”
Escobar doesn’t know what his next step will be but he did move one pace closer to opting for surgery. He would like to meet with Dr. David Altchek, next week in New York as he continues his search for answers.
“Something has to be done,” Escobar said. “Something is causing inflammation in there.”

I see we have no Juan Rivera and Mike Napoli. Why would you want to play guys who are helping you win games? Put in the catcher who throws the ball into the outfield and let a guy who can’t DH be the DH. This is why the offense isn’t getting going. We aren’t playing our best options.
I don’t care what anyone says, the pitching isn’t better because Mathis catches. And since none of the outfielders wants to be the DH one of them should sit and Juan Rivera should be the regular DH. He’s just getting going. I guess his reward for the big homer Wednesday is a vacation.
