The Angels recalled pitcher Jason Bulger from Triple-A Salt Lake to add an arm to their bullpen after it worked six innings in a 3-2 victory on Tuesday over Cleveland.
Darren Oliver (22/3 innings), Jose Arredondo (1 1/3 innings), Scot Shields (1 inning) and Frankie Rodriguez (one inning) all pitched in that victory.
To make room for Bulger on the 25-man roster, the Angels optioned infielder Sean Rodriguez back to Triple- A Salt Lake. Rodriguez was recalled on Tuesday when Torii Hunter was placed on the bereavement list.
It was the second time this month Rodriguez had been called up - and sent back down the next day.
