Still feeling their season-high 14-run, 19-hit performance on Wednesday, the Angels jumped out to an early lead tonight with five runs in the first two innings. They chased Orioles starter Brian Burres after just 1 2/3 innings. Burres retired just five of the 13 batters he faced.
Juan Rivera had a solo home run and Casey Kotchman a two-run homer, both in the second inning. Torii Hunter returned to the lineup with a two-run double in the first inning.
Pitching against the team he grew up rooting for as a kid in Virginia, Angels left-hander Joe Saunders has allowed only three hits (although one was a solo home run by Kevin Millar).
