Hunter returns — Angels vs. Orioles

July 25th, 2008, 3:05 pm · Post a Comment · posted by BILL PLUNKETT, OCREGISTER.COM

Torii Hunter has rejoined the Angels after spending a few days in Arkansas with his family. Hunter was able to say his goodbyes to his grandmother. Edna Cobbs, 80, died this morning.

“I’m sad but I’m happy that she’s out of her pain,” Hunter said of his grandmother who had been hospitalized with health problems the past five years. “She’s gone home with the Good Lord.”

The Angels returned Jason Bulger to Triple-A and activated Hunter from the bereavement list for tonight’s game. Hunter plans on leaving the Angels again next Saturday in order to attend his grandmother’s funeral. He would likely only need to miss two games (the final two of the series in New York) and then rejoin the Angels for the start of their next homestand. A return to the bereavement list is possible but would require him to miss a minimum of three games.
