The Angels have been accused of playing to the level of inferior teams and they spent the first few innings of Monday’s game living up to that reputation.
Chone Figgins started the comedy of errors after hitting a leadoff single in the first inning. He was picked off A’s pitcher Dallas Braden.
Erick Aybar also singled in the first inning but he tried to take third on a two-out single by Torii Hunter. He was easily thrown out by left fielder Jack Cust to end the inning.
Figgins singled in the third inning but was thrown out trying to steal second base to end that inning.
All they need is to have a runner thrown out at home to complete the dismal cycle. But before they can do that, they’ll have to find a way to get a runner to third.
The A’s, who trail the Angels by 20 1/2 games in the AL West, took a 2-0 lead into the sixth inning.

The Angels are an absolute joke! So pathetic that the Angels TV broadcast team has to be so bias, it truly makes Angels baseball painful to watch. The worst was during Monday night’s game, during the sponsored “Game Changing Play” segment. Despite being down 2-1 to Oakland, they named the Angels SOLO HR the “game-changing play”. LAME! When you’re down 2-0, a solo home run is NOT “game changing”> Why do the Angels have to be self-obsessed?? This is why no one respects the Angels, outside their bandwagon homer fans who came aboard after 2002. Arte Moreno must be extremely insecure to hire such bias homers to be the voice of his team. Who knows, maybe one day the Angels will actually be good enough that they can compete in a five team division, but until then, CHOKE AGAIN IN OCTOBER Angels!!!!
