Figgins’ left big toe

August 27th, 2008, 4:59 pm · Post a Comment · posted by ROBERT KUWADA/OCREGISTER.COM

Third baseman Chone Figgins is not in the Angels’ lineup on Wednesday because an irritated big toe on his left foot, the result of a bad step during a run-down play in the seventh inning of a 5-1 victory over Oakland a day earlier.

Figgins had X-rays taken, which were normal.

”I anticipate he’ll play (Thursday) or the next day,” Manager Mike Scioscia said.

With Figgins out, Robb Quinlan will start at third base against the A’s.

Quinlan has not played an inning at third base since a 9-2 loss to the A’s on July 11 at Oakland, entering in the sixth inning. He has not started a game at third base since a 6-0 loss to the Dodgers on June 27.
