Weaver’s next start pushed back

September 3rd, 2008, 3:21 pm · Post a Comment · posted by BILL PLUNKETT, OCREGISTER.COM

Angels right-hander Jered Weaver cut his pitching hand on the metal edge of a bench in the visitors’ dugout at Comerica Park during Tuesday night’s game and will not make his scheduled start on Friday in Chicago.

Dustin Moseley will start in Weaver’s place on Friday. Weaver is tentatively scheduled to rejoin the rotation on Monday in the opener of the Angels’ next homestand.

“He pushed to get off the bench and got some pretty good paper-cuts from the edge of the bench,” Angels manager Mike Scioscia said. “He shouldn’t have any problem pitching on Monday. But you want to make sure these things heal up.”
