Ivan Rodriguez was held out of the Yankees’ lineup on Tuesday because of a stiff neck, a result of the shove in the back he received from Torii Hunter that precipitated that bench-clearing melee between the Angels and the Yankees.
”He didn’t tell me he got in a car accident, so I’m guessing that’s where he got it,” New York Manager Joe Girardi said.
It jokingly was suggested Rodriguez or the Yankees call their lawyers, which got a chuckle out of Girardi. ”In today’s world …” he joked.
Girardi said that Rodriguez acutally was available, but was not feeling very good.
