Teixeira sets MLB history

September 15th, 2008, 11:00 am · 2 Comments · posted by Al Balderas, staff writer

Angels first baseman Mark Teixeira became the first player in Major League Baseball history to have back-to-back 30-home run seasons while playing for two different teams in each of those seasons.

Teixeira hit 20 home runs with the Braves this season and hit his 10th home run for the Angels in Sunday’s victory over the Mariners.

Last season, Teixeira hit 13 home runs for the Rangers before he was traded to the Braves. He hit 17 for Atlanta after the trade.

Probably Teixeira’s greatest asset is his plate discipline. He makes the pitcher come to him. If Guerrero had Teixeira’s plate discipline he would be absolutely scary! Although I have seen Teixeira’s approach gradually rubbing off on his teammates and that has and will continue to add to the Angels offensive production. Plate aggression with an agenda!!!
