Fire Aybar, Kendrich, Mathews and Anderson NOW!

  • Mark says:

Silly Angels fans, signing Tex is not the solution to your problems! If Teixeira is smart, he will not re-sign with the Angels at ANY price, unless he likes being a part of a team that folds in early October year after year.

  • OC Sports fan says:

All that is left now is to wait until next October and to start all over again.
Spitzer YOU forgot Big Baby Vladdy

What a bunch of whinning, crying, spoiled fans! Angel fans are reacting as though they are used to winning the BIG ONE. Outside of 2000 the Angels have been perenniel losers! It took a couple of Dodgers (Scoscia and Hatcher) to finally get them into the win column. And now they want to get rid of the only manager they’ve had to ever lead them to the World Series…, and win it! Man, I guess there must be a lot of young fans who don’t know, or remember, the year of the “rabbits”, or any of the other little tag lines they’ve tried to conjure up over the years just to fill up seats. Get rid of Scoscia? And replace him with who? Man, you guys deserve to have a losing team. The Yankees blamed their inability to win in the playoffs on Torre, and where are they? Out of the playoffs, while Joe is right in the thick of things in L.A.! Yeah, it’s too bad that the Angels didn’t advance past the first round of the playoffs this year, but at least you can look forward to Mike and company fielding a contender year in and year out because he knows how to win. Yeah, go ahead get rid of Mike, I’d like to see where you’d end up without him. Meanwhile, he’d end up managing a team right into the playoffs while you guys sit around and reminisce about the Scoscia years. Just like you used to about Nolan Ryan!

Augie, you’re giving Scoscia too much credit with the Angels. Anaheim cruises to the playoffs year after year because they play in the smallest and weakest division in all of baseball. I’d like to see how the Angels would do if the Arizona Diamondbacks were moved to the AL West and the Houston Astros went to the NL West.

Angels need to aproach this as a biz decision.

Texiera still has a lot of years ahead of him, played well during his time in Anaheim, and was one of the team’s best performers (offense and defense) during the playoffs. Gotta sign him.

Vlad has been deteriorating over the past few years and he’s had a lot of issues with injuries lately. Pick up his option and see where he’s at next year.

GA…thanks for everything you’ve done, but you’re too expensive for what the team’s getting in return.

K-Rod…great year this year, and you’ve been awesome in the past, but you’re not worth the money you’re asking. If Frankie drops his price, I still think he’s the best closer on our roster (I like Arredondo, but I feel more comfortable with K-Rod). But, if Frankie wants to be paid like the top closer in the game, he’s not worth that much.

Rivera should be a guy we re-sign. Not because he’s great, but because he’s a decent player and we’ll need someone to take GA’s spot.

Garland is a decent pitcher, but he’s too pricey for a #4 or #5.

Texeira has to be the guy we go after hard. He’s the guy that’s going to carry the offensive baton when Vlad passes that along (if that hasn’t happened already). Manny is an interesting free agent, but I don’t think he’s a great fit in this organization and the Dodgers seem likely to go after him hard. I like Sabathia, but I just don’t see the Halos out-bidding everyone (I expect the NY teams will make a run at him) and I’m not a fan of pricey free agent pitchers (especially when they have potential weight issues).

I think the Angels are a good team. However, I still question why Scioscia let certain key players walk from the ‘02 team? Examples: Glaus, Kennedy, Spiezio, O. Palmeiro, to name a few. Kendrick is no Adam Kennedy. Scott Spiezio was the most clutch player we had that year. Glaus, well, he was in his prime at 26. And O. Palmeiro was the best unselfish player there was in pinch hitting off the bench. We still haven’t found a replacement for Glaus at third base!

This year, I’m still trying to figure out why Scioscia didnt start Kendry Morales in right field for the playoffs every single game! Juan Rivera-cold. Matthews-error prone and doesn’t hit consistently. Am I the only one, oh, and Rex Hudler, who can see the potential in Kendry Morales?

I think our starting pitchers did great in the playoffs! You have to remember, most of the runs they did give up were unearned runs caused by errors. Instead of taking the pitchers out, lets take out the Aybars and Kendricks and Matthews and the Vlads for making errors that lead to us losing! The pitchers always get the blame, which doesn’t make any sense.
