Some of you may already be longing for the 2008 regular season, when the Angels tallied their first 100-win season and Frankie Rodriguez earned 62 saves.
In that spirit of nostalgia, here are the first two in a series of historic Angels photos that will be published in the days to come - starting with this aerial shot of Anaheim Stadium during a game on April 9, 1966. Click on each image to enlarge.

CIRCA 1967-68: Anaheim Mayor Calvin Pebley and Bob Hope clown around before a California Angels baseball game. Both are wearing California Angeles baseball caps, and Bob Hope is holding a baseball bat.
Seeing that ballpark brings tears to my eyes. The fans today do not realize how good the organization is now. Many cold and blistery nights were spent among the 5k to 10k faithful who hung around until the last pitch. Even though I enjoy it now…those were the days.
I wasn’t present during those older times but can only imagine how fun it must have been. Sure it is great to have a winning team but the expectations are so high it is disappointing when they lose. Back then you were prepared for the loss and could just enjoy being in the ballpark. Everything must have been a lot more personal.
