Red Sox fan on trial for allegedly attacking Angel fan

November 18th, 2008, 2:23 pm · 3 Comments · posted by Brian Perdue

Those thunder sticks - inflatable batons that you bang together - can be pretty annoying, particularly if you’re sitting in front of a large family on free thunder sticks night.

Well, one Boston fan may have gone a bit too far, according to the Orange County Register’s Larry Welborn. David Hackman is charged with battery after allegedly attacking an Angel fan in 2004 after getting hit over the head with a thunder stick:

“Daniel Slama, now 33, an Angels fan, suffered two broken vertebrae and a concussion when he was chased down by an angry Red Sox fan after somebody bopped the guy on the head. Slama is still recovering.

David Hackman, 37, the Red Sox fan and a former deputy sheriff in San Benito County, is now on trial in Orange County Superior Court, charged with battery causing serious injuries.”

Ware were all the Angel’s fans to back him up. Im telling you if me and my boys were there that kind of stuff won’t happen. Will just call it even, I’ve taken out a couple Sox fans or two, and Yankee fans and Dodger fans.
You need to show some respect when you come into my house.

Well, first of all, no one should’ve struck the defendant on the head. And of course, the Boston fan - if he did do this - was WAY out of line. This fight should’ve been broken up ASAP.

Bottom line: There should be no fighting among baseball fans. Let’s keep Angel Stadium family friendly.

Wow, mariOC. What a retarded comment. SOunds like the Angels get beat up by the Redsox both on and off the field. I am sure you and your “tough guy crew” would just walk away if someone hit you in the head with one of those things. Dork!
