Mets scan K-Rod medical information

November 21st, 2008, 10:05 am · 1 Comment · posted by Earl Bloom, staff writer

The Mets haven’t made an offer yet to record-setting Angels closer Francisco Rodriguez, but newsday.com’s David Lennon reports New York has received his medical records.
Ditto for Rockies free-agent closer Brian Fuentes. Both are expected to visit New York soon for interviews.
Lennon indicates the Mets’ search for a closer to replace injured Billy Wagner is focused on the Big Two. Bobby Jenks, Kerry Wood and Trevor Hoffman are lesser options right now.
Filling that spot appears to be New York’s No. 1 project at the moment. The Angels? Well, they’ve turned the page on K-Rod but left the door open … whatever that means.

You don’t know what that means? It means the Angels don’t really care. They already told K-Rod what they’d give him and he turned them down. If nobody else is interested and he wants their old offer he’s welcome to come back. That’s exactly what it means.
