Are Angels bluffing Yankees with CC interest?

November 26th, 2008, 10:30 am · 1 Comment · posted by Earl Bloom, staff writer

Are the Angels merely bluffing on their (reported) switch to CC Sabathia (pictured) as Priority One because Mark Teixeira’s starting point might be a 10-year contract?
The New York Daily News’ Mark Feinsand and larrybrownsports.com seem to think so.
The premise: The Angels show interest in CC, force the Yankees to up the ante for Sabathia, and bring Texeira’s price down. And Feinsand points out through a nameless official that the Yankees know it’s a ruse.
Interesting.
But first consider this: The Angels have been aware 10 years might be a Teixeira-Scott Boras asking point since BEFORE they acquired the first baseman from Atlanta for Casey Kotchman.
Given the Boras-Carlos Beltran history, the entire industry had to expect it.
So despite all this, if it is posturing or not, the parameters have been in place for a long time.
The guess here is that Sabathia will be signed way before Teixeira, wherever they land.

Wow , can we all imagine our starting rotation if we were to sign CC Sabathia . I have a good feeling that he will land up in Anaheim the Angels will put him in a position to win right away and he would love SO CAL…..
