We really need a home run threat but everyone seems to forget how important a GOOD FIELDING first baseman is to us. Kotchman and Tex made our infieild better than it is. Let’s don’t get a first baseman that’s a liability on the field. What about getting Kotchman back???

8 to 10 years for M-Tex @195 mil!!!! to much KASH and way too many years, let the Red Sox get saddled with that contract. Get all these high priced players to the Northeast so they can go belly up in the play-offs. Hey Tony put together a trade that would bring Gonzalez & Peavy to the Angels and sign Fuentes.

Stephen is correct in that the Sox have owned that Angels in the playoffs.
Of course that was true with the Yankees over the Sox untill it changed. Stephen should not be so cocky, history has a way of making you pay for having a big mouth.

My feeling is that if the Red Sox had really made a decient offer to Tex, they would already have signed him. rumors of them offering 185 mil are just that . Rumors. I think their offer was more in the four or five year range. Boras is just trying to squeeze as much out as he can. I dont see the Sox going to eight or ten years.
I would like to see the Angels trade for Peavy, that would be an exceptional rotation

I agree with Mike and or Horton. There are guys out there that are just as good for a better price. We need to add a few guys to build a better team. Peavy, Gonzales, Dunn, GA. Any money left over Manny if he will trade off at DH with Vlady. Can’t imagine our defensive liabilities with both Manny and Vlady in the field at the same time.

I, as a huge Angel’s fan, don’t want Giambi or Konerko. Let’s not get older and more decrepit!!! I would rather see the jobs go to the younger guys who are hungrier and have more to prove.

I ask myself this question: At this point, would I rather have Garret Anderson or Juan Rivera in left? Given their track records, I would take Garret in a heart beat. I know he is older, but man, he does produce year after year. I haven’t been that impressed with Rivera. I think signing him was a mistake and an act of desperation on the Angel’s part.

Even though Teixeira is a good ball player, he’s not worth $20+ million a year, much less 8 or more years. Nobody is. It’s time that teams start behaving in a sensible manner with these guys. Remember folks, he was with us last year and we still choked in the first round of the playoffs.

I can’t even believe we’d consider a trade for Konerko. Unless he can be had for nothing, why get a guy that isn’t producing?

I’d rather get Giambi and since Boston will be desperate to deal Mike Lowell, I’d certainly take a look at him too. By the way, any team going after Lowell will want the Red Sox to pay $10m of Lowell’s salary, which you can immediately add to the top of the contract cost for Teixeira.
