Right-hander Nick Green was a well-regarded prospect going into last season — so he wasn’t going to make it through waivers unclaimed.
The Milwaukee Brewers have snatched up the young right-hander. The Angels placed Green, 24, on waivers this week in order to clear a 40-man spot for the signing of Bobby Abreu.
Green was considered one of the Angels’ top pitching prospects coming out of Double-A in 2007 (just a step behind Nick Adenhart among potential starting pitchers). Like Adenhart, Green slumped at Triple-A — to an 8-8 record and 5.32 ERA.
and they couldnt put justin spier on waivers.
Unfortunately, we still owe Spier too much money; just like Gary Matthews. And, just like Matthews. we feel compelled to give Spier playing time that he hasn’t really earned. At least Spier seems like a positive, upbeat presence in the clubhouse. I don’t think we could say that about Matthews last season.
