Probables for Cactus League lid-lifter

TEMPE, Ariz.

The list of Angels’ probable pitchers for Wednesday’s opening game of the Cactus League schedule starts with right-hander Nick Adenhart and closes with Francisco Rodriguez (again — not that Francisco Rodriguez). Also expected to pitch for the Angels are Matt Palmer, Rich Thompson and the heart of the Angels’ bullpen — Scot Shields, Brian Fuentes and Jose Arredondo.

Four of those pitchers are getting their work in before heading off to pitch in the World Baseball Classic — Shields and Fuentes for Team USA, Arredondo for the Dominican Republic and Thompson for Australia.

The Chicago White Sox’s list of probable pitchers — left-handers Clayton Richard, Matt Thornton and Randy Williams, right-handers Jeff Marquez, Adam Russell, Jon Link and Ehren Wassermann.
