Shocking news out of A’s camp

PHOENIX, Ariz.

The Iron Man of the American League West, A’s third baseman Eric Chavez, has been shut down due to soreness in his surgically-repaired right shoulder.

Displaced at shortstop by the signing of former Angel Orlando Cabrera, Bobby Crosby is expected to make his first start at third base in today’s Cactus League game against the Angels. The A’s also signed former Dodger Nomar Garciaparra as insurance at third base.
