First look: A fan’s perspective of the new Yankee Stadium

If you want to enjoy a really good fan’s perspective of the new Yankee Stadium, visit This Purist Bleeds Pinstripes.

It’s my favorite Yankees blog, written by Rebecca, a 22-year-old MA student at  Fordham University, and one of the most observant baseball fans I have found on the internet.

Rebecca took in Friday night’s exhibition against the Cubs. But, because it was an exhibition, she confesses to spending only innings 2-4 in her seat, spending the rest of the time touring the place that replaces The House That Ruth Built.

These two photos are from This Purist Bleeds Pinstripes.

The new Stadium is nothing less than a cynical joke being played on Yankee fans.
      Bottom line.
The seats are located much further from the playing field. The fans have been taken out of the game. And they’ll pay much more to sit further away.Gone is the intensity and drama created by the relative intimacy of the real Stadium. It’s now been replaced by Yuppie Stadium - a place for the disinterested who spend most of the game on their cell phones. They have roomy seats, wide walkways,a martini lounge, hard rock cafe, digital jumbotron and lots of food chices to keep them entertained.Because after all, baseball is boring right?
      Note to Yankee management -
You’d better tear down the old Stadium quickly.
Because right now it stands in the background like a King de-throned,waiting for his subjects to rise up and demand he be restored to his rightful place.
