Final: Angels 8, Giants 1

June 16th, 2009, 9:59 pm · Post a Comment · posted by MARK SAXON, OCREGISTER.COM

Sean O’Sullivan dominated the Giants in his major-league debut and the Angels continued to abuse National League pitching.

O’Sullivan, 21, was thrust into emergency duty because of an injury to Ervin Santanta and he allowed just five hits and a run in seven innings. He struck out five and even had a base hit and scored a run. This from a man who had a 6.02 ERA at Triple-A Salt Lake.

Meanwhile, the Angels’ request to switch leagues is pending approval from the commissioner’s office. Not really, but maybe they should apply.

In going 7-1 against the NL West, the Angels have scored 60 runs and mashed 17 home runs. In 55 games against the AL, the Angels have hit 42 homers and averaged 4.6 runs per game.
