Angels concerned about Santana’s injury

For the second time this season, Ervin Santana is headed to the disabled list because of pain near his right elbow.
While the Angels say they’re confident the 16-game winner can return to their rotation _ possibly as soon as early July _ they don’t deny some uncertainty.
“You’re always concerned when you have a pitcher as talented as Ervin and he has an issue with his elbow,” Manager Mike Scioscia said.
Santana felt pain in his right triceps after throwing off the bullpen mound Sunday.
Santana missed the first five weeks of the season with a sprained elbow, but an MRI indicated that ligament injury had healed, Scioscia said.
“I just want to get healthy,” Santana said. “I just want to pitch when I don’t feel any kind of pain.”
Sean O’Sullivan, a 21-year old who surrendered just one run in seven innings during his major-league debut in San Francisco last week, will replace Santana for Tuesday’s start against the Rockies.
O’Sullivan, who grew up less than 100 miles from Angel Stadium in El Cajon, was excited about the opportunity to pitch in front of a home crowd. He estimated he’ll have 30-40 friends and family members here to watch.
He found out he would be returning to the Angels while getting off the plane after a flight from Sacramento.
“It was a little different, but I still got the same smile on my face when they told me,” O’Sullivan said.

The Angels should more concerned about the team as a whole. The “hunger” is not there and it shows. Maybe if Mike Scoscia and Howie Kendrick spent less shooting embarrassing commercials for Howard’s, and more time focusing on their day jobs, the team wouldn’t be so bad. The Angels are lucky they play in the smallest and weakest division in all of baseball, otherwise they wouldn’t even be in second place.
