In this story on the Yahoo! Sports site, Rangers outfielder Marlon Byrd is unabashed about buying supplements from a former steroids pusher, Victor Conte.

  • Earl Bloom, staff writer says:

So now, in a classic case of guilt by association, we can accuse, with impunity, Marlon Byrd of being juiced?

    I think not.

I am ‘roided out, by the way, and tired of those in our profession who have suddenly become the morality police, when the guys on uppers got a free pass not so long ago.

And the ones who were racists even longer ago are still in the Hall of Fame because, frankly, much of the country was racist then.

Conte served four months, and 40 of 42 charges against him were dropped. Meanwhile people are killing other people, someone stole our economy, and I just want to hear about baseball for awhile.

I am also getting tired of explaining to folks that Manny Ramirez wasn’t on steroids.

I am pretty sure Marlon Byrd is clean, because the whole thing is too damn obvious. And I appreciate him being so frank in the interview.

This in no way is any criticism of the posting, Mark, just my opinion on the subject. I was still on disability when I first saw Steve Henson’s Yahoo! article …
