Good news, bad news — and no news from Angels

Good news?

Reliever Jose Arredondo has been activated from the DL by Triple-A Salt Lake. Arredondo has not pitched since June 20 when he was sidelined by a sore elbow. An MRI showed inflammation in the joint but no ligament damage and he has bounced back quickly.

After being demoted by the Angels in early June, Arredondo pitched 6 2/3 innings at Triple-A Salt Lake, allowing one run on three hits and striking out seven — but also walking seven.

Bad news?

Tigers third baseman Brandon Inge has claimed the final spot on the American League All-Star roster via the “Final Vote” contest — must be all those unemployed autoworkers with time on their hands.

Angels third baseman Chone Figgins finished third in the voting — but could still be added to the All-Star team as an injury replacement.

Which brings us to — no news?

The Angels will wait until tomorrow to re-evaluate injured outfielders Torii Hunter and Vladimir Guerrero and make any determination about putting either on the disabled list.
