In this remarkably positive piece of journalism, MLB.com’s Lyle Spencer quotes some of the Yankees talking about how sorely they miss the Angels’ Bobby Abreu.

“He’s my favorite player,” says Melky Cabrera.

Different sport, but the Lakers went through the same thing when they let Bob McAdoo go after the 1985 championship season.

He was Byron Scott’s childhood hero, and Scott took a longtime to recover from losing a teammate he admired and idolized.
