Matt Herges is available

The Angels figure to look into acquiring reliever Matt Herges, now that the Cleveland Indians reportedly have designated him foIndians Pirates Baseballr assignment.

It wasn’t like he had pitched awfully. Herges, 39, had allowed fewer hits than innings pitched and he had a 3.55 ERA. The Tribe needed roster room for newly acquired Winston Abreu.

The Angels could trade for Herges or take a chance that he will clear waivers.

Another thing we learn from the above link is that Herges is “one of the game’s nicest people.”
