Sometimes, justice is served via an unlikely path. It took an injury to Tampa Bay’s Evan Longoria to get Chone Figgins on the All-Star roster.
Figgins, 31, had made it clear he was disappointed to be left off the team (he lost a run-off to Detroit’s Brandon Inge), but he also refrained from lashing out at the selection process.
He had members of his family maxing out their on-line voting allotment, but not enough Angels’ fans came through for him.
“Everyone that got in, they deserve it regardless of what everyone says,” Figgins said. “Everyone gets picked for a reason and everyone deserves it.”
That now includes Figgins.
