Spiezio joins independent Flyers

August 11th, 2009, 7:25 am · 1 Comment · posted by Sam Miller, The Orange County Register

The Orange County Flyers signed Scott Spiezio to a deal to play in the independent Golden Baseball League, where he’ll join former major leaguers Damian Jackson, Robert Fick, Ben Johnson playing for manager Phil Nevin.

The Flyers are 12-8, in second place in the south division of the GBL. Presumably, Spiez could be in the lineup for tonight’s 7:05 home game against the Chico Outlaws.

Spiezio, of course, had the biggest hit in Angels franchise history. Like you forgot.
