Jose Cervera. No, not Cerveza. Cervera.
He’s 29, from El Cajon, according to Anaheim Police Sgt. Rick Martinez.
And, in what will undoubtedly surprise many who watched Cervera traipse around the rocks and flop into the fountain behind center field, he was not drunk.
Check out the screengrabs and video of Cervera running onto the rocks in the bottom of the sixth, with the Angels leading 4-0. Depending on your view of jinxes, he was either a curse (the Angels promptly blew the lead in the top of the 7th) or the next-best thing to the Rally Monkey, since the Angels would ultimately pull out a memorable and desperate victory.
He was detained on a citizen’s arrest — likely by stadium personnel or security — and detained in Anaheim’s jail Thursday night. He has since been released, and faces charges of trespassing, a misdemeanor.
He will not face charges on public drunkenness, though, a clue that officers didn’t find him to be “unable to care for himself or a danger to others,” Martinez said.

You”ll see more jail time when you get sentenced, dummy. That’s when you’ll wonder if it was really worth it, and everyone but you will have long forgotten about it.
OCSays- there will be no jail time for a simple trespassing misdemeanor. He will likely get some sort of community service and informal probation along with a fine.
I ran on the field after game 7 in 2002. They did the exact same thing to me. Jail (miserable), trespassing ticket ($500 fine). The DA dropped the charges so I didn’t have to appear and paid $0. I’d have to think they would follow through with the charge, given the national spotlight factor. But still, he’ll probably only have to pay the fine. He’s awesome.
You should have rocked a promo shirt or something and gotten paid. No harm done and by an Angels fan.

As far as Im concerned, you set the tone for the rest of the game. After relinquishing the lead, you made the game fun again. That enabled the Angels to play their style of baseball. Very loose and very fun! Way to go man! Next time you should wear a flesh colored body stocking and really get some attention! HAHAHA!

I recall in televised sports games around the 80’s and 90’s, whenever someone did something like this the TV cameras and media would purposely not show it in order to prevent encouraging this type of behavior, now and in the future. That was their policy .That was the right thing to do.

My guess is because this is getting so much attention, Jose will be found guilty. Me and my kids always talk about what it would be like to jump in there! Believe me it was tempting when we were in a group sitting in the backfield blazing sun over the summer! I thought it was funny especially since everyone was so stressed out over losing! Not encouraged….. but if you know he consequences and are willing to pay the price, go for it! Life is too short! :-)

It turned out ok because you didn’t fall and hurt yourself. If others try this and maybe they are drunk or otherwise impaired and they fall and hurt themselves, do you think it would be funny? In this country copy cat crimes are very prevelent. And yes they should arrest you and I am sure you will only be fined. And you deserve the fine.
Also, if you had fallen, they would have had to stop the game which would have been bad for the Angels.

Idiot …would be a an appropriate name. I realize it was funny but it only confirms we live in the reality “look at me” T.V. mentality. So he was on national T.V., as what? the idiot who managed to get on the rocks at Angle Stadium.
Next time, work hard and try to be one of the guys in a Play Off Baseball game, instead of the guy who ground it to a halt. There was enough entertainment on the field, I didn’t need this guy to add to it.

First, I think we’ve determined that this is not the real Jose. That being said, when I saw the incident on TV, I laughed, it was funny. However, I would not suggest that my son do this, nor suggest that it be done by anyone in the future. It is a crime and it was obvious that he could have been seriously injured with one mis-step.
I was actually suprised they showed this on TV, normally they don’t show this stuff in fear that someone will want to one up him and do more.
Everything happens for a reason though. Maybe the stadium will be fixed so that no other bonehead can do this in the future.

I was at the game last night, sitting in F135, I missed it! Thank Gawd I dvr’d the game. I watched it this morning you were great! I had planned to get drunk so I could run out on the field when the Angels won. I’m a middle-aged woman. My husband told me if I did, I’d be banned for life. I couldn’t stand the thought so changed my mind and got a little drunk — but not in front of my kids, and I didn’t drive home!
