There’s little question that John Lackey will be the richest pitcher in this free-agent derby and there’s not much hope he’ll stay with the Angels.
With Andy Pettitte contemplating retirement, it appears the Yankees are the logical front-runners for Lackey, who pitched like a No. 1 starter for much of the postseason. But if Texas could get its finances together, it could lure Lackey back to his Lone Star home.
What do you think?
I hope the angels sign John Lackey because he’s a good pitcher and I hope they also sign figgins and guerrero to.The angels are a very good team to watch and we will beat the yankees next year.
Don’t bet on it. Lackey is working it for all he can get. Because you know he can’t take care of his family with $70M…he needs over $100M. Otherwise his family would suffer economic hardship.
As for Figgy…c’mon. Let’s just part ways. We need someone at 3rd base that can hit double digit homeruns. Give him $10M+ a year and you won’t even see a golden glove. He’ll get complacent.
Vlad…he’s done. Don’t waste the salary like the Mariners did with KGJ. Don’t get me wrong because I’m a huge KGJ fan, but the pay was too high.
Enjoyed each of the 3 Angels listed above while there were here, but we need to move on. We can’t afford to keep them.
Lacky Is too much of an egotist. He is looking at how much Sabatha is making and feels he deserves as much, even tho Sabatha ,I feel is better and what ever the Yanks pay doesn’t mean it is market value.
Say goodbye Lackey!!
Lackey is looking for Burnett-level money, not Sabathia.
He’s not “going back home”. Texas is broke. Lackey is looking for his payday. My money is on the Mets. They have the resources and desperation to get a deal done.
