Angels’ brisket sandwich vs. the Dodger Dog

BrisketSo the New York Times is raving about the brisket sandwich at Angel Stadium and dissing the Dodger Dog. Of course, East Coast folks seem to think White Castle can’t be topped and have no idea about In-N-Out (double meat, ketchup, mustard and pickles … mmmm).

But back to the ballpark.

Does the New York Times know what it’s writing about? And, no, we don’t mean regarding politics.

Angels impact in Beijing?

Register columnist Jeff Miller says things are going so well for the Angels these days that the impact is being felt in the Olympics, where Angels minor leaguer Matt Brown homered in a 7-0 Team USA victory.

BOSTON (AP) – Manny Ramirez is headed to Hollywood.

The Red Sox finally parted ways with their disgruntled slugger, sending him to the Dodgers in a startling, three-team trade today that brought Jason Bay to Boston, two people familiar with the deal told The Associated Press.

Pittsburgh gave up Bay and wound up with four young players. Both people spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because no official announcement had been made.

Is this better than the Angels landing Mark Teixeira? It certainly might make a bigger impact since the Dodgers aren’t exactly tearing up the league.

The Angels just completed a sweep of the Red Sox (and made it eight in a row against Boston). They have baseball’s best record at 67-40 and lead the AL West by 11 1/2 games. And they pulled off a trade this week for one of the best sluggers in the game.
